Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods
Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency?
Using a CAD system, designs tooling such as jigs and fixtures to assist in manufacturing?
Assists and performs product design as directed to supplement team efforts in ensuring efficient production methods
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
Develops cost data based on estimated material requirements, production times, staffing requirements, and related overhead costs to provide information for management decisions
Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes and reduce costs?
Applies statistical methods to data collection techniques to assist in quality and process controls
Review and approval of analysis results, authorization of re-analysis, calculation of process solution additions and corrections, and the preparation and approval of analysis procedures as required.
Works as a team member to execute quality improvement programs?
Develops tests and works with testing methods to assist in product development and manufacturing process improvements
Responsibility for review and approval of analysis results, authorization of re-analysis, calculation of process solution additions and corrections, and the preparation and approval of analysis procedures as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelors of Science degree required. Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering preferred.
Proficient using 3D CAD solid modelling software. CREO or SOLIDWORKS preferred.
Knowledge in capacity planning, including productivity, manpower planning, and process flow.
Experience managing capital equipment procurement projects; including specifications development, qualification plans, and equipment installation and commissioning.
Experience with assembly line layout, automation and customized manufacturing equipment.
Strong mechanical skills/knowledge and experience in any of the following processes: assembly, crimping, potting, braiding, or electrical test.
Working knowledge in Lean manufacturing principles and methodologies (FMEA, DMAIC, VSM, Kaizen, etc.)
Lean or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
