Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Revenue Cycle Systems Analyst (EPIC HB).

The Revenue Cycle Systems (RCS) team provides technical expertise and application level support for various hospital revenue cycle modules across NYULHS. The Senior Revenue Cycle System Analyst is responsible for providing analysis and maintenance of the Revenue Cycle management systems. Duties and responsibilities of the SRCSA include, but are not limited to: (1) system configuration (2) troubleshooting and resolution of routine tasks (3) testing and build related to project implementations, (4) documentation of revenue cycle processes and workflows, and (5) assisting ARCS and RCS Analysts in each of the items above, under the guidance of a Lead Analyst.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Uses critical and analytical thinking to perform analysis and system configuration related to support processes that include (but are not limited to) eligibility, coding, charging, billing, reimbursement, remittances and follow-up.
  • Understands the requirements and expectations of the processes used in supporting hospital billing applications.
  • Assists analysts in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
  • Provides resolutions for RCO system issues and communicates status updates and corrective measures with end-users.
  • Functions as a liaison between Revenue Cycle Operations (RCO), Information Technology (IT), and 3rd Party Systems.
  • Establishes working relationship with Revenue Cycle Operations, System Vendors, MCIT and end users under the guidance of RCS Management, to provide attentive service that meets high quality standards and has a direct impact on their operational workflows.
  • Able to work independently without the need for constant supervision, while maintaining open communication channels with a Lead Analyst and/or Application Manager.
  • Able to contribute ideas and recommendations to team members to help in achieving goals or completing tasks.
  • Works independently when instructed by Management while maintaining open communication channels.
  • Open to consistently improve their understanding of the Industry, organization and department by taking on new challenges and opportunities.
  • Participates in cross-training initiatives within Revenue Cycle Systems (RCS) and user-training sessions with other departments.
  • Participates in development, design and implementation of new applications and changes to existing systems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of NYULMC service standards, New York State Hospital regulations and Federal HIPAA guidelines and is compliant throughout the performance of duties.
  • Attends user and internal team meetings. Attends departmental meeting. Attends 2 continuing education and 2 HIPAA security training courses.
  • Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved MCIT procedures
  • Completes tasks to ensure reports, filings and documentation are compliant with SPARCS regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in a healthcare related field.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a hospital revenue cycle operations or other healthcare technology related field as an individual contributor.
  • Epic Certification or 5+ years' experience in hospital billing system configuration
  • High level of analytical/communication skills, and computer proficiency, Including (but not limited to) applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SQL (or similar reporting language).
  • Knowledgeable in HIPAA 5010 Transaction Sets e.g. 837I, 837P, 837R, 835, 270/271, 276/277, 277CA, 278.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
  • 5-7 years' experience in a hospital revenue cycle operations or other healthcare technology related field.
  • HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative
  • Epic Certified in one or more of the following modules:
  • Resolute Hospital Billing
  • Resolute Hospital Claims
