Summary The Managed Markets group supports this corporate vision through operations that: Monitor and influence the reimbursement environment Communicate with and educate primary US Payers regarding BioMarins product portfolio and value proposition Secure broad Payer coverage for BioMarins marketed therapies Address financial barriers to therapy Work collaboratively with Patient Services and Distribution to address individual payer issues. The Sr. Director leads field operations for BioMarins Market Access initiatives in the United States and its territories. This executive manages corporate efforts to establish effective business partnerships with key national Payer accounts. The Sr. Director ensures effective communication and collaboration between its Field National Accounts team and other departments, including Specialty Distribution and Trade, Market Access Strategy, BioMarin Rare Connections and Patient Services, Nurse and Clinical Coordinator teams, Sales, Sales Operations, Medical Affairs, and Marketing Excellent leadership, strategic development, operational, organizational, problem solving, communications, and project management skills are required. Strong results orientation and a sense of urgency to get things done effectively are critical. This professional is a disciplined risk-taker comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment with the resource constraints of a young commercial organization. This individual must be creative, flexible and adaptable to new and changing business situations. The Sr. Director must be goal-oriented, know how to set aggressive, but achievable targets, motivate cross-functional teams and business partners, as well as develop and manage a Managed Markets budget. Responsibilities Oversee US field-based, National Accounts team to establish a favorable access environment for BioMarin products Ensure that the US National Accounts team is appropriately sized and skilled to effectively represent BioMarins therapeutic portfolio and value proposition to US Payers Hire, manage and train all members of the US National Accounts Team both direct and contracted resources Lead internal cross-functional efforts to develop strategic and tactical plans as well as account pull-through plans building a strong and credible BioMarin presence in selected private and public-sector accounts Collaborate closely with Market Access Strategy team to monitor private and public sector reimbursement trends. Translate these trends into field execution plans Influence BioMarins Commercial contracting strategy and execution Effectively align Payer field operations initiatives with BioMarins MSLs, Patient Access Services, Nurse and Clinical Coordinator Program, and Field Sales groups Collaborate closely with other commercial groups including Market Access Strategy, Marketing, Commercial Operations, and Medical Affairs Travel as necessary to oversee effective program operations, personnel management, Industry and BioMarin meetings Participate as necessary on Medical Affairs, Market Access, Brand, Field Sales, and other commercial teams Manage and adhere to corporate policies and practices Requirements 15+ years of progressive experience in healthcare product sales, managed markets, national or government accounts Demonstrated success in leading and managing National Accounts operations through US product launches as well as leading cross-functional projects and teams, good analytical and organizational skills as well as the ability to interact and positively influence all levels of business across multiple departments Education Bachelors degree required in business or science discipline MBA, MPH or other advanced degree in business or science discipline desired We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
