Position Summary:

This listing is for a position on our Service Operations team, which handles primary infrastructure and product alerting globally. We operate 24x7x365 to proactively monitor and maintain uptime across all sectors of CDK s operations and respond to and remediate downtime events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary

  • Monitoring incoming alerts, dashboards, cases, and emails for necessary event response (environmental, applications, networking, systems, messaging, telecommunications incidents, etc ).
  • Triage incoming cases and remediate using runbooks and standard procedures, or escalate to the relevant personnel.
  • Launch, coordinate, manage communications, and drive Outage Events (bridge calls with internal experts, clients, and vendors) to remediation.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of products, systems, and networks and provide front-line support across all sectors of our business.

Secondary

  • Monitor Requests for Change and suppress monitors accordingly.
  • Decrease the signal-to-noise ratio of pages and alerts within the Global Infrastructure Services organization.
  • Maintain and improve Operational Documentation
  • Provide Outage Post-Mortems
  • Continually maintain skillset, onboard new knowledge, and pass on what you have learned.

Qualifications & Job Requirements:

Technical

  • Bachelor s Degree, Associate Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science, or 3-5 years equivalent experience in a Data Center or Network Operations Center position.
  • Working knowledge of at least two alerting platforms (Example: Nagios, SCOM, SolarWinds, Zenoss, AppDynamics, HP SIM, SNMP).
  • Understanding of Networking and Internet Protocols.
  • In-depth Windows and Linux troubleshooting knowledge (both, not one or the other).
  • Excellent Communications Skills are a Must Have. We are the primary hub of company triage and messaging and all other teams look to us to drive remediation and interaction. If you are not comfortable being uncomfortable this is not the position for you.

Personal

  • This positon is for the Hoffman, Illinois Corporate Office.
  • Be available for a one week on-call rotation every 4-6 weeks.
  • US positions typically are first or second shift but expect to work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team. Typical shifts are a minimum of two individuals working independently from a single workload pool, alternating outage events.

Experience with the following a plus:

  • Sales Force / Service Cloud.
  • At least one area of specific, in-depth technical focus (Network, Databases, Windows, Linux, Storage, Hypervisor, etc ).
  • Previous Operations Center experience.
