We are looking for a highly motivated, agile and experienced scientist to join the Clinical Immunohistochemistry (IHC) team in the Cellular Biomarkers group within the Bioanalysis, Immunogenicity and Biomarkers (BIB) department based in Collegeville, PA. This group is responsible for developing and validating biomarker assays and its translation into the clinic in alignment with therapy area partners. Data from this group is a key component to the understanding of disease signatures and treatment responses for individual patients; and serves to enable studies to prove target engagement for novel mechanism of action and safety endpoints. Important deliverables from this group include characterization of biomarker expression, immunophenotyping and evidence of target engagement in tissue biopsies from clinical trials.

This individual will serve as a US technical expert in Imaging Mass Cytometry, providing scientific leadership and guidance on the use of Imaging Mass Cytometry with a focus on understanding the distribution of multiplexed biomarkers in the tissue microenvironment. This role will conduct and oversee all aspects of method development, trouble-shooting, validation and sample analysis for non-clinical and clinical studies requiring Imaging Mass Cytometry endpoints. The successful individual will complete all aspects of the determination; including reagent selection/optimization, sample preparation, sample acquisition, data analysis & interpretation, and presentation. Ensure all work is conducted in compliance of GCP regulations (when necessary) and following the appropriate SOPs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Connect with the Biomarker Leads in project teams and conduct biomarker assay support to deliver on biomarker strategy to meet project needs.
  • Be responsible for developing bespoke IHC assays using metal conjugated antibodies and their evaluation using Mass Imaging Cytometry, to support pre-clinical and clinical studies; delivery of robust, high quality data packages and will demonstrate the ability to critique work to enable lead modalities to be smoothly progressed into clinical development
  • Prepare and develop novel antibody staining/derivatization reagents, using appropriate mass tags; establish and maintain an antibody and reagent library
  • Deliver, interpret and communicate complex scientific data to project/program teams in a timely manner by performing data analysis, record keeping and reporting of results to agreed timelines
  • Help lead efforts to investigate novel cytometry platforms and embed within the organization
  • Good knowledge of more complex flow data analysis packages such as tSNE and SPADE would be an advantage
  • Track record of handling multiple projects concurrently
  • Willingness to develop and train others as required
  • Able to function well in a team and possess a good balance of creative and analytical skills
  • Handling of human biological samples and performing experimental work in accordance with HBSM, safety and data integrity guidelines.

    Basic Qualifications:

    We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PhD or postdoctoral in biochemistry, biology, Immunology or related discipline
  • 2 years experience utilizing Imaging Mass Cytometry and/or CyTOF in a research or clinical setting. Strong laboratory hands-on experience, equipment operation and maintenance, and theoretical understanding of clinical biomarker assay development, validation and implementation.
  • Experienced histotechnologist with demonstrated competency in all aspects of IHC sample processing including collection, trimming, paraffin processing, histochemical staining and microtomy.
  • Strong theoretical understanding and application of multiplex immunohistochemistry with demonstrated expertise in development of bespoke single and multiplex IHC assays using manual and/or automated immunohistochemical platforms.
  • Proven ability to provide biomarker/translational expertise on programs/project teams for clinical studies with a wide variety of techniques and technologies.
  • Maintains a disciplined approach, ensuring a relentless focus on quality, compliance, scientific rigor and operational excellence
  • Attention to detail and effective communication and documentation skills will be expected.
  • Highly motivated team player with a proactive attitude, excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to interact effectively within a multi-disciplinary team are essential.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
