HCA Houston Clear Lake is currently looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) Mother Baby. What you will do in this role:Provides direct patientcare to new moms and babies in a family-centered approach in accordancewith established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcareorganization, as well as guidelines of professional organizations.Overseeing and directingassistive personnel, and maintaining final accountability for the care given. Serves as the primarynurse leading the collaboration of all disciplines for well-coordinated patientcare. When the need arises,this nurse will perform other duties within the scope of practice as assignedby his or her supervisor.Performs a completenursing assessment with a special focus on the adaptation to postpartum andtransition to parenthood, post op surgical recovery, and the female populationwith obstetrical or gynecological needs in order to establish and prioritizenursing diagnoses to create an individualized, evidence-based plan of care.Providespatient-centered care to address physical, spiritual, psychosocial,developmental, cultural, and educational needs of the patients and designatedfamily members in accordance with the plan of care, hospital policy, state andnational regulations and recommendations, and guidelines of the professionalorganizations.Recognizes current andemerging high-risk obstetrical conditions and emergencies in order to respondtimely and appropriately to provide the highest quality care for the mothers.Demonstrates behaviorsrequired to promote infection control, risk management and cost containment.Provides patienteducation on-going from time of admission to discharge in order to support themother in caring for herself and her newborn. Topics such as breastfeeding,post-partum depression, conditions for when to notify your provider oremergency services, and other obstetrical topics as indicated.Assures patients meetthe physical and educational criteria for discharge.Provides the patientsand families with appropriate referrals and individualized informationregarding post-discharge community resources.Communicates withpatients, families, and multidisciplinary team members, both verbally and inwriting, to enhance team work and promote safety, security, and improvedoutcomes. Participates as amultidisciplinary team member in process improvement to utilize resourceswisely, while creating and promoting a culture of safety.Assumes theresponsibility for charging the unit, as needed, once designated as beingcompetent as a relief charge RN. Qualifications What qualifications you will need:Current Texas licensure with StateBoard of Nurse Examiners as an RN.Associates of Science in Nursing, requiredBSN, strongly preferredOne (1) year of RN hospitalexperience is required in a hospital setting.
