Summary:

Orchestrate and lead a collaborative planning process to define and execute the strategy, product portfolio and go to market plans to accomplish the companys commercial software goals

Responsibilities:

  • Drive successful relationships with key customers to ensure we understand emerging trends and successful adoption of new products
  • Partner with the Research & Technology Development (RTD) and Product Development (PD) teams to successfully define and execute new product and sustaining product plans
  • Partner with Product Marketing and Market Development to incorporate regional considerations in portfolio decisions and go to market priorities
  • Work collaboratively with Product Marketing (at headquarters and in region) and the Sales & Support organization, to insure successful implementation of our go to market plans to accomplish customer adoption, use goals and financial objectives.
  • Provide technical marketing support to sales/support teams, training and tool development
  • Direct a team of marketing professionals insuring clear goals & objectives, plan execution and the staffs continued development and growth
  • Identify the staffing plan and additional resources necessary to successfully execute plans, track performance, insure the continued productivity of the product management team
  • Proactively ensure that all members of the commercial team are engaged, incentivized and trained on the software portfolio
  • Participate in key industry forums, conferences & trade shows and customer visits to advocate for Illuminas software strategy and portfolio
  • Requirements:

  • Understands the cloud computing commercial landscape, including best practices for the development and implementation of platforms and tools that enable the streamlined development of custom implementations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in providing a clear vision, strategies and plans for the development and commercialization of novel software products
  • Previous experience in a product management role. Must have developed portfolio plans and led teams to execute the successful launch and ramp to volume of multiple software products
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, synthesize and prioritize customer needs to inform and develop a competitive software strategy
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) including the demonstrated ability to influence senior management about key decisions associated with portfolio, product and pricing decisions.
  • Must have demonstrated track record of successfully building and leading teams
  • Must have strong analytical skills and ability to tie detailed analysis to larger strategy
  • Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with strong preference for an advanced degree (MS or PhD)
  • MBA strongly preferred
  • 15+ years of software marketing experience
  • 10+ years progressive management of software marketing teams in a similar commercial function
  • Broad knowledge of all areas within particular Corporate sub-function or a function within an operation. Typically has depth of technical knowledge in cloud based software derived from experience in non-management and middle management roles.
  • Requires high level understanding of software markets and sales opportunities for the companys products
  • Experience in life sciences a plus
