Task and Field Engineering Lead - Sludge Mobilization System - (ATE000235) Description Primary Jacobs manager for and interface with the sludge mobilization system (SLMS) manufacturing subcontractor and the Slurry mixing and characterization tank (SMCT) test vendor. Experience in performing work under a NQA-1 program, familiarity with DOE order 413.3b, ability to manage cost, schedule and budget for complex technical activities (i.e. manufacture of the SLMS and SMCT testing). Lead Engineer supporting and providing oversight to the vendor for design and manufacture of the Sludge Mobilization System (SLMS) and SMCT Testing vendor. Work with the Design Authority for the SLMS which will mobilize, retrieve, condition and transfer remote handled transuranic (RH-TRU) sludge from the ORNL Melton Valley Storage Tanks (MVST) to a sludge solidification center. Work with the Design authority for testing of the SMCT which will receive, suspend and homogenize retrieved waste from the SLMS. Responsible for factory and construction acceptance testing for the SLMS and oversight of SMCT design and testing activities. Works with the SLMS manufacturer and SMCT test vendor to understand system design needs and requirements. Provides technical oversight and advice for the process flowsheets, material balance, and other design documents that provide the technical basis for manufacturing the SLMS and performing SMCT testing. As part of implementing principles of DOE-STD-1189, actively works with the SLMS manufacturer and SMCT test vendor to incorporate safety in design and assists in the evaluation and preparation of accident analyses which address atmospheric dispersion, spray release calculations, and evaluation of hydrogen gas retention and release mechanisms. Manages cost, scope and schedule for all SLMS and SMCT procurement activities.
