Our Locations and Service Areas

We proudly serve patients and families in private homes, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, and our care centers located in Wilmington, Bolivia, and Whiteville, North Carolina. Our service area includes Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender Counties in North Carolina; and Horry, Georgetown and Marion counties in South Carolina. Our corporate office is in the coastal community of Wilmington, NC.

We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse Per Diemto join our group of dedicated and experienced professionals.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join the largest and most experienced hospice in the area. Lower Cape Fear Hospice is certified by Medicare and Medicaid and approved by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Inc. Each day, more than 600 patients and their families receive care from Lower Cape Fear Hospice in our hospice and palliative programs.

Job Description

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Utilizes all aspects of the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) with appropriate skill to effectively manage the Plan of Care for each patient.

  • Provides appropriate and pertinent patient education to the patient/family according to the Plan of Care to facilitate optimal patient and family comfort and support in life limiting illness.

  • Appropriately documents and communicates all required information in accordance with agency policies and procedures, accreditation, regulation, and legal requirements.

  • Effectively and appropriately delegates specific patient care duties to Nursing Assistants.

  • Annually continues personal development to enhance practice and profession.

  • Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently.

  • Maintains and adjusts schedule to enhance team performance.

  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with all members of the team.

  • Maintains and promotes customer satisfaction.

  • Effectively demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of Lower Cape Fear Hospice daily.

  • Must evaluate services of aide in home every 14 days. The aide does not need to be present.Annually, an onsite evaluation and supervisory visit of the hospice aide.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently while managing the care of hospice patients.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing, either through an AD, Diploma or BSN program required.

  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of North Carolina required.

  • Two years nursing experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer at least one year Home Care or Hospice or related oncology experience.

Location-Service Area: Wilmington Care Center (Wilmington, NC), Whiteville Care Center (Whiteville, NC) and Brunswick Care Center (Bolivia, NC)
