The selected candidate will implement laboratory information management systems (LIMS) for
Vaccine and Oncology R&D. Solutions will be implemented in areas including immunooncology,
biospecimen testing, and nanoparticle development. The person will work with
scientists and clinicians to gather user requirements, configure and deploy LIMS products using
agile methodologies, and help scientists and clinicians to use new solutions. The successful
candidate will at times build data processing pipelines and small tools and utilities to enable
efficient data management within laboratories. The person will collaborate with others in R&D
Business Technology and scientific organizations including Vaccine Research Informatics to
develop and deliver solutions. This person will build strong relationships with scientists,
stakeholders and BT colleagues at multiple levels within Pfizer. The successful candidate will
proactively identify customer needs and areas for improvement. The person will take ownership
of projects and deliver results with a sense of urgency.
Implements LIMS solutions that are delivered to scientists in a timely manner
Collaborates with business partners and scientists to define solution requirements
Identifies and evaluates new functionality for implementation
Initiates and prototypes new solutions
Bachelor's degree in a scientific or computer science discipline or other similar field
Complementary degree in computer science or biology is a plus
Minimum of 3-5years of work experience
Excellent communication skills
Comfortable working in a team environment as well as independently
Experience in LIMS development is required
Experience with workflow management tools such as Pipeline Pilot would be preferred
Understanding of relational and non-relational databases would be a plus
Understanding of programming, and proficiency in at least one language would be preferred
Basic office environment.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Occasional travel to other Pfizer sites in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and California.
