Description SHIFT: Nights (rotating weekends) SCHEDULE: Full-time St. David's North Austin Medical Center is part of St. David's HealthCare , one of the largest health systems in Texas, which was recognized with a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2014. The 378-bed multi-specialty, acute care facility is dedicated to the highest level of women's health services, including maternity and newborn care with Level I, II and III nurseries at the adjacent St. David's Women's Center of Texas . The facility also features a 24-hour emergency department, the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery , the Bariatric Center, heart and vascular center, neurology and neurosurgery, a kidney transplant program, inpatient and outpatient surgery, and acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, among many others. St. David's North Austin Medical Center is also home to St. David's Children's Hospital . Labor and Delivery Unit Description This area is currently experiencing rapid growth with the monthly delivery rate exceeding 600 deliveries. It includes 29 LDR's, 6 triage rooms, 6 bed recovery rooms for Cesarean Sections and other obstetrical related procedures. This area also has the unique feature of doing newborn transition in the mother's labor room, thus decreasing the separation time between mother and newborn to almost zero. If there is any need for separation, it rarely exceeds 30 minutes in the transition nursery. All staff are NRP, AWHONN-ELECTRONIC FETAL MONITORING certified. An educational push is being done to encourage RNC specialty certification, ACLS, and limited ultrasound training. Focus for education in the future will be for high risk OB. Nursing procedures encourage nursing qualifications to perform placement of fetal scalp electrodes, intrauterine pressure catheters, and for nursing anatomy. Job Function The St. David's HealthCare Registered Nurse (SDHRN) fulfills an important role as a central patient care provider responsible for the coordination and delivery of patient centered nursing care. As a full partner of the healthcare team, the SDHRN collaborates with all other healthcare disciplines to achieve successful execution of the patient's plan-of-care. The SDHRN utilizes physical assessment skills and advanced diagnostic technology to aid in the assessment of the patient's nursing care needs. Data collected is analyzed, synthesized and disseminated to other healthcare providers. The SDHRN continues to monitor and assess the patient's physical condition, emotional and social needs, continually refining the plan-of-care to ensure achievement of the desired goals of the patient and facility outcomes. Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction. Qualifications Education & Experience Required: Graduate of accredited nursing school with Nursing Diploma, Associates Degree or higher level education. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Business, or Healthcare Administration. Documented experience demonstrating leadership, management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Licenses & Certifications Required: Current Texas RN License or a Compact RN license from a NCLA Compact State . New hires have 90 days from start date to obtain Texas RN License; ACLS certification as per SDH policy by January 1, 2014 new hires have 90 days from start date to obtain ACL certification. NRP certification as per SDH policy, current employees have until June 1, 2014 to obtain, new hires have 90 days from start date to obtain NRP certification.
