Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Associate.



The role of the clerkship coordinator is multi-faceted and requires excellent communication skills, positive attitude, a strong work ethic, insight, maturity, patience, and the ability to deal with stress demands from variety of sources, from students to medical school administration. Coordinator's primary responsibility will be to assist and advise the clerkship director in managing all aspects of the clerkship. The clerkship coordinator acts as student advisor, advocate, and policy expert for the clerkship. The clerkship coordinator directly reports to the Undergraduate Medical Education Program Supervisor but must also work with the Medicine Clerkship Director, the Associate Chair for Education, Firm Chiefs, teaching attendings, and chief medical residents.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate medical student schedules with Clerkship Director and chief resident to include orientation activities, rotation schedules at all affiliated hospitals, lecture schedules, meetings, Saturday conferences and Humanistic Medicine sessions.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Bright space (the NYU School of Medicines Learning Management System) site as it pertains to the Clerkships.
  • Plan and organize logistics, such as booking conference room and ordering food and beverages for clerkship events.
  • Oversee the process for the Department of Medicine Chairs Letter for each student interested in further training in Internal Medicine.
  • Collaborate with the Assessment team to ensure adequate and appropriate assessment is conducted via COMET throughout the clerkships years.
  • Provide additional assistance to the UME Team. Demonstrate dedication to the UME team by helping with student related activities in Ambulatory Care, Critical Care, and Advanced Medicine Clerkships.
  • Contribute or completely oversee other student related activities, including but not limited to, the summer research program, Concentrations in Research, and medical student recruitment for the Departments training programs.
  • Demonstrate initiative with new student education related programs.
  • 9. Work with the UME Program Supervisor and the Associate Chair of Education to help prioritize projects.

Minimum Qualifications:


To qualify you must have a Associates' Degree is required. Minimum of 1 Year of related experience in an office setting or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective Oral, written communication and interpersonal skills. Computer Skills -Working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power point and Access. Ability to develop basic formulae for spreadsheets; set up routine computer procedures; Ability to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software. Ability to proofread documents and write clear, concise 1st draft. Ability to type at a speed of at least 45 net words per minutes. Knowledge of standard office practices. Ability to multi-task while paying attention to details. Ability to use standard office equipment such as copy machines, multi-line telephones, fax machines.
