This position is within the Ligand Binding Immunoassay area of the High Throughput Clinical Testing (HTCT) group of Clinical Testing & Business Operations within VRD. The primary function of the HTCT team is to generate high-quality immunoassay data in a regulated cGLP laboratory setting to support Pfizer s vaccine programs. The purpose of this position is to support the technology transfer and integration of new laboratory immunoassays into the LBI cGLP space, support assay validation projects and to monitor immunoassay lifecycle. The incumbent will work with their manager to plan, design and critically analyze immunoassay-based experiments for assigned projects, as well as coordinate laboratory activities with various functional groups and junior colleagues to successfully meet project deliverables. In addition to required immunoassay experience, the incumbent should have a working knowledge of basic statistical analyses and be able to interpret/communicate statistical results to colleagues in the context of immunoassays.


  • Coordinates aspects of one or more immunoassay projects, as assigned, across work groups
  • Designs immunoassay experiments and participates in experimental strategies for assay validations in a team working environment
  • Point of contact for various functional groups to coordinate laboratory activities; provide scientific and organizational leadership through strong interpersonal skills
  • Independently performs all aspects of work to support clinical and development studies with minimal support from direct supervisor
  • Understands basic statistical analyses; interpret and presents statistical results, as they pertain to immunoassays
  • Coordinates the efforts of junior colleagues to complete the work assignments and collect data
  • Assist in the collection of data to support vaccine clinical trials
  • Contributes to solving problems that arise in routine and non-routine assay/equipment processes
  • Effectively communicates experimental design, strategy and results verbally and in writing
  • Presents experimental results at group and project meetings
  • Documentation Support

  • Reviews and approves various standard operating procedures (SOPs), as assigned.
  • Monitors the SOP review and approval workflows for authored SOPs.
  • Authors, reviews and approves technical reports, as assigned.
  • Training and Safety

  • Maintains strict compliance with departmental and site safety regulations.
  • Takes ownership of and successfully complete all assigned training.

  • PhD degree in Microbiology, Immunology or related discipline with 0-3 years post-doctoral training required
  • Must have strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of data structures, statistics and various liquid-handling robotic systems
  • Ability to design experiments, analyze and interpret scientific data

  • Strong working knowledge of vaccine research and assay development
  • Direct hands-on experience in assay development is desired.
  • Direct hands-on experience working in a regulated (cGLP) environment is desired.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
