The incumbent will direct a team dedicated to the generation of antibodies as tool reagents for antigen and/or vaccine candidate characterization as well as for development of clinical testing assays. The incumbent will be responsible for leadership and strategic direction for the generation and development of different types of antibodies with a focus on monoclonal antibodies originated by hybridoma fusion with respective evaluation of functional activity. Team responsibilities include screening, expression, purification and characterization of monoclonal antibodies with various bioanalytical methodologies and functional assays.
As a leader, the incumbent will work cross-functionally and in a matrix environment with other research and development groups and participate as SME on multiple teams.
The ability to work in teams, write reports, standard operation procedures (SOPs) and publications for peer review is expected.
Ph.D. with 5 years postdoctoral experience, preferably with at least 3 years in an industrial setting (i.e. within the antibody, molecular biology and/or immunology area).
Experience in hybridoma technology including hands-on-skills in the performance of fusions as well as generation of monoclonal antibodies in mice and rabbits.
Experience in cell culture work with various mammalian cells.
Knowledge of antibody purification with state-of-the-art technologies such as different chromatography methods (affinity, ion-exchange).
Hands-on skills in protein analytics such as ELISA, immune blot, Octet/Biacore, neutralization assays and/or Flow cytometry (FACS).
Skills to write SOPs, reports, scientific papers and supporting drafts for patent applications independently; as well as to present scientific data internally and externally at conferences.
Understanding of relevant work from the scientific community and using the information to improve internal processes and/or establish new procedures/technologies.
Experience in leading teams.
The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and relevant scientific software, including bioinformatics and graphing/statistical analysis tools is expected.
Experience with database systems such as LIMS to maintain antibody inventor.
