JOB SUMMARY The Primary Care Physician & Program Director is a dual role combining direct patient care and program creation and oversight. The Program Director is responsible for the development and oversight of our new Primary Care program. In partnership with Medical and Operational leaders, the Program Director will develop and then manage systems and processes to ensure a high-quality primary care program, including physician/mid-level provider training and oversight, medical consultation and medical leadership. This position also provides primary care services in our health centers, as well as the full array of family planning and medication abortion care. In the first 12 months of employment, the role will require 60% direct medical care and 40% administrative responsibilities. After 12 months, the role will move to 80% direct medical care care and 20% administrative responsibilities. With the support of the CEO, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief of Clinical Operations, guide the Primary Care steering committee and oversee all aspects of the development and oversight of the program. Establish a process for supervision, training and signoff that allows qualified and experienced mid-level staff (PA/FNP) to train and then provide care at our health centers. Assist in general training and education for staff, including clinician in-services as needed. Provide direct consultation and chart review to designated clinic sites and prepare quality reports in collaboration with Center Manager. Assure that medical complications are managed in accordance with accepted standard of care. Direct Medical Care Work 60% clinic/40% administrative for first 12 months, seeing a full schedule of patients 3 days per week, with flexibility as required. Travel to Nashville and Knoxville Health Centers as required to ensure patient access as directed by the CMO. Provide Family Planning services (including medication abortion according to written protocol and all FDA approved birth control) until primary care demand increases to fill a primary care schedule Serves as a first-line physician resource on problem and emergency care for PPTNM patients and ensures 24/7 emergency coverage via use of an off-hours call service system. Medical Leadership Participate as a member of the Medical Services leadership team to ensure the provision of high quality, cost effective medical care and excellent customer services provided by center staff. Participate in health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity and quality metrics; facilitate a positive working environment. With the CMO, provides physician leadership for PPTNMs Risk Quality Management (RQM) Program. Duties include reviewing complications data on a regular basis, preparing and reviewing occurrence reports, implementing corrective actions and systems improvements, leading root cause analyses, conducting chart audits and individual case conferences, and other duties as appropriate. Serves as liaison to hospitals providing back-up services to PPTNM for all matters related to the transfer, referral, and care of PPTNMs patients. Participates in collaborative agreements with mid-level practitioners as required by state regulations and as assigned by the CMO. Other Duties and Responsibilities Arrange time off schedule in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure clinics are not cancelled due to physician unavailability and call coverage is not compromised. Attend Board meetings in the absence of the Chief Medical Officer, as requested. Participate in fund-raising or public relations events, as requested. JOB REQUIREMENTS Position requires M.D. or D.O. in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine and must be Board certified or Board eligible. Certifications required include DEA and ACLS. Must have experience in full range of primary care. Previous leadership responsibilities strongly desired.
