On any given day, your responsibilities will include Apply control systems technologies to aerospace applications relating to prototype hypersonic flight test vehicle demonstrations Support and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams engaged in the development and application of the Nation-s most challenging flight control system prototyping and demonstration activities Represent Sandia technical accomplishments in customer and professional conference venues Qualifications We Require You have a Master's (MS) degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or AerospaceAeronautical Engineering or relevant STEM degree, plus 5 or more years related experience Undergraduate degree is also in STEM Your background includes experience with design of algorithms for classical, modern, and non-linear control system design theory, Your experience includes MATLABSIMULINK Qualifications We Desire Ideally, your background would also include PhD preferred in Electrical, Mechanical, or AeronauticalAerospace Engineering with a focus in controls. Experience with design of guidance algorithms. Familiarity with 6-DOF trajectory simulations. Knowledge of rocket propulsion systems, explosives, earth penetrators aerodynamics. The ability to work effectively on multi-disciplinary project teams. Strong writing and oratory skills with supporting Journal article or Conference Proceeding publications About Our Team The Navigation Guidance and Control (NGC) II Department 05427 provides technology solutions and support to both Offensive and Defensive Military Systems development projects within the Integrated Military Systems Program at Sandia. Hardware and software technologies are developed, integrated, and tested to provide flight control solutions for missiles and hypersonic reentry platforms. Typically, these systems support the Missile Defense Agency, Army, Navy, and other Department of Defense Agencies. Our programs cover a broad spectrum of applications from advanced aerodynamically controlled vehicles dropped from aircraft, to maneuvering hypersonic warheads, to ballistic missile systems. All the activities require the extensive use of real time embedded computers and custom real-time software for the realization of affiliated fully-integrated flight control system solutions. The NGC group is significantly involved in modeling and simulation activities in support of these same application areas as well as activities for the Sandia Space Mission Program.
