Day Job Summary
-Partner with Controller, Director of Operations Accounting and other Society staff to determine the best design of the accounting systems and policies and procedures that result in the best practices for assigned financial applications and play a key role in the development and project management of organizational priorities.
-Provide accounting oversight and supervision of the Society's debt obligations and investments to ensure they are compliant with all regulatory requirements and agreements and complete the necessary audit requirements.
-Take a shared but critical role in the gathering and completing of audit work papers and financial reports for all of the Society's related entities and managed locations. Partner with the external and internal auditors by providing financial data, system processes and workflow for their examination.
-Interpret current regulations, gather and compile the necessary information to assist in the completion of the Society's, related entities and managed locations tax returns and 990's within the required time lines.
-Elevate recommendations for process improvements, identify mitigating processes and determine the cost / benefit of implementing changes.
-Responsible for reviewing and understanding current, proposed and new accounting pronouncements and regulations applicable to job duties to ensure proper internal controls are in place.
-Set direction, provide supervision and provide oversight of the staff accountant and debt / asset / construction sub-systems and related applications functionality. Qualifications
-Four year accounting or business degree required. 3 years' experience preferred. Prior supervisory experience required.
-Ability to supervise multiple staff. Ability to understand, use and navigate multiple accounting applications. -Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and effectively. Ability to be forward thinking to improve processes and provide solutions. Ability to interpret written policies and procedures and federal/state regulations to implement into practice. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work with interruptions while adhering to strict time lines.
-Knowledge of Society policies and procedures as related to the various assigned financial applications for internal control purposes. Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations related to Society accounting and debt agreements. Understanding of the Society's corporate structure.
