Responsibilities

In your first rotational assignment, we seek your best thinking and enthusiasm to develop actuarial expertise in joining our Retirement Plans Actuarial team. You ll leverage your analytical skills in support of our initiatives that are critical to our success. Your principal responsibilities include:

  • Assistance in the development and maintenance of actuarial models.
  • Preparation of division financial reports.
  • Analysis of financial performance that contributes to profitable division operations.

Acceptance to a position in this job family constitutes participation in the Actuarial Student Rotation Program at The Standard. The mission of the Actuarial Student Program is to grow actuarial knowledge, business acumen and leadership skills in our Actuaries to enable the achievement of organizational goals. Actuarial students are provided financial support and study time for exams and are expected to progress through the levels of the job family based on academic/exam achievements and by developing their analytical skills, independent decision making, and effective communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree required. Advanced degree a plus.
  • 1 - 3 years of actuarial or related analytical experience.
  • Demonstrated recent (last 12 months) experience in preparing for and successfully passing actuarial exams.- ideally 2 - 3 exams minimum.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments and teams
  • Ability to present data clearly to a varied audience
  • Ability to prepare for and pass actuarial exams and maintain continuing education requirements.
