Job Details:

  • Carefully pack books in appropriately sized containers to sufficiently protect books during shipping.
  • Accurately pull books from picking bin locations to complete orders for shipment.
  • Open and accurately process returned books with related paperwork. Return books to picking bin locations and re-pack into boxes, as needed.
  • Receive inventory into the warehouse, verify quantities and enter appropriate information into FileMaker database and order fulfillment database.
  • Weigh packages and apply appropriate postage and correct shipping labels. Follow specific customer shipping and labeling instructions. Accurately complete bills of lading, as needed. Accurately ship packages via UPS, FedEx, U.S. Postal Service, and trucking freight methods as required.
  • Safely drive UT vehicle to various campus locations for daily mail pick up and book deliveries. Assist customers with orders picked up at warehouse.
  • Participate in semi-annual physical inventory count.
  • Assist in keeping warehouse area free of debris. Other related functions as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications

    High school graduation, GED or vocational school. Some experience handling stock and maintaining records. Ability to work independently and as part of a group. Good communication skills. Experience working with customers. Experience using personal computers. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience operating an electric pallet jack. Working knowledge of postal service regulations and experience using postage machine. Three or more years of stock handling and inventory control experience. Experience packing books for shipment. Computer data entry experience. Experience using FileMaker databases, Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel), and order fulfillment software. High degree of accuracy in all phases of work.

    Driving Required

    This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

    Employment Eligibility:

    Retirement Plan Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
