POSITION SUMMARY: Apply engineering principles to identify, analyze, design and deploy complex automation solutions for automated manufacturing process s using commercial software and hardware products or customized designs as necessary to deliver the defined needs of a required automation solution. Provide guidance and direction regarding equipment safety standards to Global Engineering, Health Safety and Environmental and site personnel. Additional duties include but are not limited to performing a wide variety of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic services, new equipment specification/ordering/purchasing, facility implementation/integration, preventative maintenance plan development, and documentation. Develop and/or provide technical training for new and modified equipment.

  • Lead the analysis of new and existing equipment or processes for integration capabilities according to user requirements.
  • Lead support for machine control system diagnostics and design, including but not limited to programmable control systems, relay control systems, human machine interface, data acquisition technologies and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of regulated electrical safety and design standards applicable to automated machine control design and support.
  • Develop and implement Global processes for change management, risk assessment, documentation in the area of machine/equipment etc.
  • Assist in electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic design modifications.
  • Analyze problem areas on existing equipment and prepare design changes or recommend component replacement as required to resolve problems.
  • Specify, design, purchase, install equipment as needed based on production demands.
  • Evaluate existing equipment and/or systems, looking for methods to improve safety, performance, efficiency, reliability or accuracy and present recommendations for same.
  • Contact with equipment builders and suppliers to discuss design features relative to special application needs; obtain quotations and delivery times.
  • Manage and coordinate plant and capital projects, properly document work, and maintain history of projects in appropriate project files.
  • Research and analyze data such a supplier design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate and/or perform all necessary validations and/or process engineering evaluations as needed for manufacturing equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor s, Electrical or Electronic Engineering and a minimum of five years experience in a manufacturing environment.

Proficient in interpreting and applying regulated electrical safety and design standards as applicable (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, RIA, UL, etc.)

Experience: 6-10 years
  • 5 Years experience in Automated Manufacturing Control System Design and Support
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial manufacturing systems.
  • Proficient in PLC system design, diagnostics, and programming with Rockwell PLC5, SLC, and Logix platforms. Familiar with other PLC platforms (Siemens, Mitsubishi)
  • Proficient in HMI system design, diagnostics, and programming with Rockwell panel view and panel view plus platforms. Familiar with other HMI platforms (Siemens, Pro-Face).
