In this role you will utilize a human centric design philosophy to tackle complex challenges in the design and commercialization of combination products. Utilizing rapid prototyping and fast cycle product development, you will focus on supporting the development of the core solutions for future generations of product families and prove the key aspects of those solutions through quantitative and qualitative research.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with internal and external team resources to:
Challenge assumptins to produce novel concepts
Identify project requirements
Develop, execute, and document project deliverables in compliance with committed timelines and project goals
Maintain design records associated with assigned projects
Design components and develops specifications to produce prototypes and test hypotheses
Develop tooling and fixtures for the manufacture and test of design concepts
Lead the execution of prototype builds
Develop and executes testing to characterize technology performance
Engage with company and industry experts to accelerate the learning curve
Define actuators, sensors, PCB outlines and other electromechanical elements in collaboration with electrical engineers to achieve system functionality
Analyze evaluation results and make well-informed and well-reasoned strategic recommendations
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 2 Years of experience in product design/development
CAD experience (preferably Solid works)
Self-starter with high curiosity and learning orientation
Exceptional technical ability and firm grasp on engineering fundamentals
Demonstrated ability to:
Complete multiple technical projects
Learn and apply new skills
Understand and communicate technical ideas and concepts
Background in medical device or pharmaceutical industry
Knowledgeable of manufacturing methods including plastic injection molding and machining operations
Experience with technical writing
Experience executing design verification and validation activities
Experience with Finite Element Analysis
Skilled in the use of Matlab or similar
Experience with Open source development platforms (e.g. Arduino)
Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 15%
